If we take a quick look at what’s happening over in the fruit markets, the banana price decreased to R9.69 per kilogram or R174 per 18kg box with volumes decreasing by 3% week on week. The average price is likely to stay in an upward trend for the remainder of the year.
The latest apple price decreased to R11.30 last week, pear price decreased to R10.83 per kilogram with both these prices that can remain in an upward trend this year.
The Orange price increased to R7.47 the past week and can also remain in this upward trend until February 2025.
The Avo price decreased slightly to R22.57 per kilogram last week with volumes 13% higher week on week. Fuertes traded higher on R31, Hass lower on R16 while Pinkertons increased to R50. This price is likely to stay in an upward trend until January next year and then decrease significantly in February and March.
The average table grape price increased to R48.58 due to 38% lower volumes week on week. I still think prices can increase further in October as the first significant local volumes will only start in December. Pineapple prices traded lower on R12.72, lemons increased to R5.69 while the average Blueberry price traded 28% lower on R71 per kilogram.
