Over in the fruit markets, the banana price increased to R8.63 per kilogram or R155 per 18kg box with volumes increasing by 4% week on week. The average price is likely to stay in an upward trend for the remainder of the year, but lower middle month demand over the next two weeks can limit some of this upward potential. We are seeing similar volumes compared to 2020 at the moment with the price also remaining on similar levels. In 2020 the price peaked in October at R10 per kilogram. It will be interesting to see if it will happen again this year?

The latest apple price increased to R10.95 last week and is now 11% than a year ago. We are still expecting apple prices to move above R13 in November when prices are expected to peak. The latest pear price stayed on R10.28 per kilogram and call also increase further from October until December due to lower volumes.

The Orange price increased to R6.20 the past week with volumes decreasing by 21% week on week. We can possibly see similar price levels until the end of this month, but the price can trend significantly higher from October onwards.

The Avo price decreased by 6% to R20.09 per kilogram last week with volumes 2% lower week on week. Fuertes traded lower on R29.36, Hass higher on R14.82 while Pinkertons increased to R20.56. I still think that the price can stay in an upward price trend until November.

The average table grape price increased to R67.86, pineapple prices traded higher on R13.96, lemons decreased to R5.85 while the average Blueberry price traded 2% higher on R68.43 per kilogram.
